THOUGH MY STUDY MATERIAL HAS ABOUT 25 MOST FREQUESNTLY ASKED QUESTION IN AN INTERVIEW, WITH MOST SUITABLE ANSWER I REQUEST YOU TO SHARE MORE QUESTIONS SO THAT WE ALL BECOME ENLIGHTENED AS WELL AS I CAN ADD THOSE QUESTIONS IN MY STUDY MATERIAL ” HAND BOOK ON INTERVIEW”….. HAPPY READING AND HAPPY SHARING!!!!!

Readers may type it in the comment box given below, we will later put them in the page..

Q. Tell me about yourself

This is a very generic question in which you can say almost anything about yourself. Unfortunately most interviewees use the opportunity to recount their bio-data lying in front of the interviewer. Prepare yourself for such a question so that you can tell them those things that are not in the bio-data form, such as your special traits, qualities, achievements, aspirations, motivations and ambitions. The interviewer will be very impressed. Remember that a two sentence answer will make the interviewer feel that there is so little to know about you. You should be able to say a lot with out being verbose or self-opinionated. You can take full control of the interview based on the answer you give him. Giving false claims will put you in trouble, so try to prepare in advance for the follow up questions that will come as a result of your narration about you.

Q. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

This is a question that has stumped a number of interviewees. It is ascertained to know how much you know about yourself. A person who knows oneself in life is more effective in life. However many candidates find it very difficult to verbalise their strengths and weaknesses. Some may have not given thought to it; others shy away from the fear of blowing their own trumpet. It is easy to verbalise strength but it is very difficult to articulate weaknesses. Candidates should try to give weaknesses that will not jeopardize their chances in the interview. However interviewers view statements of weaknesses as being very normal, disarming, sincere and honest. Remember to go to your next interview having thought well in advance what your strengths and weaknesses are. Weakness like poor spoken english, smoking, adamant, very sporty, etc which will not affect your profession as well as which  can be easily improved must be told as your weakness to the interviewing officer. The above mentioned weakness areas are only some examples and you may find some more / more suitable weakness areas as per your personality !!!!!

Hi Kumar,
I really appreciate for your time and patience in guiding us to achieve our
everlasting goals.
I am going to attend my first SSB through Indain Coast guard for
(Assistant Commandant General Duty)and there is an Preliminary Selection on 28/02/11,And I came to know that there will be IQ test wihich consists of 80-85 questions on (Verbal and Non Verbal reasoning) which need to be solved in 30-35min, followed by a PPDT , from your blog, and I want to know from you that what would be the cutoff mark to clear in verbal and non verbal reasoning part , i mean how many questions need i should attempt correctly ,as I may not attempt all questions properly as we have a less amount time, and will be there any negative marking for each wrong answer in IQ Test, and in Screening test which part has more weightage ie(IQ TEST or PPDT) how the final result would calculated for Screening test.

I will be waiting for your reply,I think you being a defence person might be busy but please kindly expedite my request and suggest me your valuable feedback as that would help me a lot.

Thanking you,
Prabhu kiran,
( A Future defence personnel) .

hello kumar,
extraordinary and noble job is being done by this site…hats off to you
i have completed b-tech, 2011batch. I appeared for CDS-1-2011 and qualify for Indian Navy. Now my SSB date is on 25Aug2011 at 33SSB bhopal.
The main concern of mine is all about interview and are as followed:
1. If interviewer ask “Did u take any coaching?” and If i answer “Yes Sir”
Does it create a bad impression?
2. I am technically weak. what should i do? (remaining time is very less)
3. Would you please put some light on Indian Naval ships and the current issues of Indian navy?
Extremely sorry :( for a long post. but i did not have another option :o
Thank you

Reply

21 Kumar August 7, 2011 at 5:55 am

1. yes..it creates an impression that u r not ur realself
2.eat well…weakness is 80% mental and 20 % physical
3. the nswer to this question u will get from indian navy website…if u need to know about a specific class of ship or something specific u plz ask me

22 Nutan Swami August 10, 2011 at 12:17 pm

hahahahahahahaaaa :)
I am super glad to see your humorous answers…now confidence is on great heights…thank you…you are such a gentleman…no doubt :o

So i have decided…i will say NO when asked about SSB coaching…honesty is the bast policy but not always..i will surely manipulate anyhow…and will try to show real and original Nutan Swami not fake.

Dear Bharadwaj, Education branch is a very good branch. If you ask me in the context of career progression and promotions then my reply might disappoint you. But in a personal context it is a very good branch. You will get enough time to be in big cities and always with your family. The branch gives you very high chances of doing post graduation from IIT and IIS. There are ample number of seats in IIT and other prestigious colleges reserved for education officers. Overall a good branch where you will get opportunity to take care of your personal goals(higher education) and family goals , but at the cost of professional growth.
If I had a son or daughter I would definitely reccommend this branch for him/her.

Regards.

Sir, Do the Education officers have chances to become MARCOs. I come from Computer Science Background, so is there any chance that they will do Technical stuff related to IT. Recently Navy advertised for IT officers, so do education officers joined with Compter Science Engineering specialization can also be part of these IT operations? Thanks in Advance Sir :)

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I think I have a better picture of the education branch now. I recently attended an SSB interview and I am currently preparing a document detailing my experiences and I will mail it to you as soon as I complete it.

Dear Anjuri, Deep knowledge of English is not required, but at the same time your english should be good enough such that you donot create a mockery out of yourself in front of jawans/airmen/sailors!!! That is one big concern. You must be able to communicate freely in english, write correspondence in english with minimum/less spelling/grammatical errors. Thats it.

respected sir,
my name is sankalp . i will be completing my MBA in Shipping Management from Indian Maritime Univ on july 2012. I am looking forward to apply for the Logistics cadre but before applying i wanted to know a few question that have been confusing me.
1- while applying online, the site asks for the under graduation marks after filling up the 2 yrs marks scored during the completion of MBA.
my question to you is sir, why is the under graduation marks being asked when higher qualification is entered as MBA. and if the MBA score goes for the cut off list.. how much percentage should a person have to get a call for the ssb.

with much regards
sankalp

Reply

88 KUMAR April 23, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Dear Sankalp,
The bachelors marks are asked for purpose of documentation only and does not involve your selection criteria in that. Your marks during MBA will be taken for cutoff. And let me tell you above 65% of marks most of the applicants will receive their call letter for SSB. The selection or rejection what ever you may call is after that. :)

Hello Kumar Sir,
As I have got 65% in 10th and 63.6% in 12th, However, i managed to pass my engineering with 71.9%. I also had 2 years of gap between 12th and Engineering because of engineering competition preparation. I wanted to know, would it hamper my chance to get selected in SSB as i have 2 years of educational gap and my percentage in 10th and 12th is not much satisfactorily.

Dear Deepu, ask yourself why you want to join navy/armed forces????? Dont think of it as a job. It is a way of life. So you need to change your attitude!!!! No wonder the interviewing officer shouted on you if you cannot answer this question!!! Our study materials will give you a fair idea of the probable questions that will be asked in the interview and how to answer them. So I would suggest you to enroll and take our study materials so that atleast you can be better prepared. Because from your comment I can make out that you were totally unprepared!!!

Dear Sir,
I was conferenced out in my first SSB at 1, AFSB Dehradun in January 2012. Now I have 3 SSB’s piled up this year – NDA, Army TES, navy TES. I think last time I was bad at many places- interview, GTO and SRT also.Following are my few questions:

1. Last time my interviewer asked my rank in my group on the basis of performance. I knew I didn’t do well in GTO tasks, so i said 4th. His reply was, ” Ohh, you’re being too modest , huh!?!”. Was my answer correct?? Or should i have said 1st?

2. I am actually not good at physical and outdoor tasks. I could do only 5 individual obstacles. One high jump I couldn’t do even after trying it 4 times!!One of my SSB’s is next month. I know I can develop those skills but it would take time.(I have to join a gym ,i think). Please give some tips if you can. Also, should i try my individual obstacle 2nd time after failing in the 1st attempt??.or just move on to next??

Please anwer me these questions.I am very desperate to get recommended this time.!!I have read a lot about you!!..Thank you in advace sir.

Hi all B.tech Graduates Mainly from Eletrical, Eletronics, Communication and Commputers or IT Students remeber thst Indian Navy Fixes a Cutt off every time and this time it was 70% for some and 71% for some Dec 2012 Courses i had enquired with Head Quarters as i had only 60% i was not eligible for
Indian Navy Anymore and still i am applying but never got call letter. So i want say that if anyone is not getting call letter for navy with below 70% means dont feel bad prepare for other Services like air force and Army and coast guard and till now i gave 6 Written Exams (2-NDA, 2-CDS, 2-AFCAT) never cleared and even for sainik school i was not selected and gave 8SSB’s (5-Army(3-SO, 2-CO), 1-Navy(CO), 2-Coast Guard(1-SO,1-CO)).
But still my journey continues i wish all the very best for you all and i know soon i will be uniform but waiting for my Day. Forgot to Say i applied even for Sailors, Airmen TECHNICAL& Non Technical, Soldier General Duty after 10 & 12th but was not selected. but still now i am happy that bcoz i had age to try for services and at the same time i am working in good company TCS. I also suggest all Defense Aspirants that first settle in a job and try for Services as you dont when ur day comes dont say that you will try without job even Interviewing officer will not believe it and i hope no one crazy like me where even i applied for jawan, sailor and airmen posts and was not selected in those so i am saying seriously that first get a job all graduates and try for services till you have chance and i know everyone will get our turn. if i spoke something rubbish dont mind it and if it is usefull thank you.

Sir,
I have cleared AFCAT 02/2012, and my ssb id=s due in few week time. This will be my second ssb after 2009 through cds, (i was conference out). I have prepared some answers to the best of my knowledge and would like to share with you .
Q: your strengths and weakness?
A: Strengths: honesty, integrity, belief on my conviction helpful. (there are certain real life incidents that made me realize these attributes)
Weakness: I sometimes am adamant , I am trying to be more convincing rather than being adamant.
Q: Why Air force ?
A: I believe we can serve our country by doing our work best to our abilities, yet I chose armed forces due to following reasons. Quality of life, good salary, only place where physical fitness given equal importance as regular work.
Q: What if you are not selected ?
A: I will analyze my performance here, improve my abilities and when I belive I have improved I will come back again.
Q: If not selected any time?
A: As I am already pursuing M.Tech from NIT Jalandhar. I have decided on three career operations 1: Armed forces 2: Civil services 3: Teaching. If not selected here I will prepare for civil services.
Q:I want to know about your percentage from class 8 onwards ? Why was their a decrease of % from class 10 to B.Tech(I got 81% in 10 and 65 in 12 and 61 in B.tech)?
A: I have always been an average performer . reason for my decrease in percentage is that though I have been sincere in my work , I have experimented a lot tried new things which sometimes were successful and sometimes resulted in failures. In 10th I had just one aim to secure 80% marks because I had always secured in 60-70%. While I moved in 11th and 12th , I aimed at getting into IIT for engineering where I realized it was only necessary to pass with 60 %, therefore I devoted more time to competitive preparation, though I never made to IIT or NIT. Yet I managed to secure seat in one of the most reputed college of Himachal Pradesh . During engineering I again experimented with my aims /ambitions and decided to develop myself . Therefore I started to participate in events like GD, developed a habit of reading newspaper, magazines etc. Most of my time was spent gaining knowledge from varied spheres of life. After completion of my B.tech I chose not go for MBA as I realized it was not my cup of tea, therefore I prepared for GATE , qualified it in 2011 and joined M.Tech in VLSI design from NIT jalandhar.

Q: How do your friends see you as?Tell me 2 positive and 2 negative things your friends think you have?
A: My friends see me as helpful and caring friend, they always find me standing by them when they need me. Positive: Helpful, enjoy spending time with me. Negative: find me lill formal when asking help from them , since I intend to solve my problems myself first before asking for help.

Q: which books do your read? Name the books you have recently read? Name the authors of those books? Give a brief gist of the book? Who is your favorite author?
when do you wake up in the morning? How do you keep yourself fit?
A: I like non fiction, biographies, spiritual books. I have read “Better India , better world” by Narayan Murthy, “science spirituality and nature of reality” a discussion between T.D singh and D.r Penrose. No favourite author as I read quite diversely so have not developed a single favourite. During college time I wake up at 7 am during holidays around 10 am.
Q: How do you keep yourself fit? What are your hobies?
A: I maintain my fitness by practicing yoga, and playing different games which I play casually like tennis, roller skating, cycling, sometimes even go for long walks. My hobies are reading and photography.

Dear Prakrti, Dont worry about palm sweating. It is not a big issue!! Do attend your SSB and try to clear it!!

208 nitin December 8, 2012 at 1:43 pm

Dear Prakrti,

Yes, palm sweating (hyperhidrosis) is one of the most frequent reasons of rejection in armed forces. The reason behind this is your grip is not strong enough while you sweat. It may hamper your performance in many ways including during weapon training. Although there are remedies for this problem. One of the best and cheapest is applying ‘white vinegar (not synthetic) and rose water’ mixture over your palms.

for navy dont worry about merit list u will be definitely be in and merit list is made by ur OIR rating ur marks scored in Individual obstacles and total marks u scored in ssb which is for 900 including these all ur merit list will be prepared so stop worrying about it and as armed always say keep backup. so dont leave ur job until u get merit list out as navy will call u to ur number which u mentioned in PIQ they will not display the merit list in any website. Vinit you will have to wait and watch… if there are too many applicants then a cut off will be decided for selecting candidates for interview. Since 63% is on the lesser side you will have to wait

225 sujan December 15, 2012 at 12:20 pm

sorry to interupt ur answer sir @vinit while u apply for coast gurad only u have to print the acknowledgement on which date, time and venue will be given according to ur choice and according to that u should move to the ur venue with 2 copies of print out, there is no seperate call up letter for coast guard if u forgot print ur application after submission go and get it from reprint option give in join coast guard, and the date u report will be screening process and for next process i mean remaining ssb process they will send u mail and list will be uploaded in coast guard website, they will not send any call letter so reprint ur application and prepare for PSB all the best brother.. sir, good morning. I came to know about SSB interview very late. I want to join in army. My age is at present 24. But I have 6/12 sight on both eyes. My friends told me that even I clear in first 5 days test, I will be rejected in medical test. Is it so? What should I do? Why Army put this hurdle? I am quite enthusiastic to serve the mother land as it is my duty.

@yugandhar hi brother i appreciate ur enthusiasm, as every armed force says that have a backup plan, so u should also have it, go for ssb clear it, check in the join indian army website for the medical standards, if u dont clear medicals u continue ur normal life, if u clear medicals then get ready to wear uniform, so there is no problem in trying and give ur best leave everything for god brother. if ur destiny is it u will get it brother so go for it and for army as per ur age now u dont have chance through CDS if u are a b.tech graduate u can go for Technical entries as direct entry brother, and also airforce notification is out check out in careerairforce.nic.in. brother.. all the best for ur future.. Sir,
I have applied for coast guard general duty. I have my PSB very soon..From where I should prepare for intelligence tests exclusively?? Pls do reply sir…!!

Reply

241 sujan January 2, 2013 at 6:19 pm

@pushpa You can prepare from RS agarwal and also website called Indiabix.com
these both will help u out and also keep managing time as in PSB the intelligence test will be bit different compared ssb as they will project questions on the screen and u should encircle in a OMR where u should be really very quick so i wish u all the best as the time for question will around 3 to 7 secs and there are 7 sections around 70 questions so do well if u clear the intelligence test then only u will be allowed for PPDT. @Amandeep Singh Firstly i would like to say that there is no rule that you should be very fluent in any language(importantly English/ hindi) but at the same time yes its bit added advantage and helps you alot to understand your view clearly rather than any other language and but still it doesnt matter SSB is not a corporate selection to see english proficiency it looks how u are able to express ur view clarly on thing so be crystal clear and all the best my dear brother Jai hind Jai Jawan

@aditya pandey Hi brother firstly dont loose ur hope and confidence, always remember u r unique and u r the best so the only thing u should do is give ur best do ur best, prepare well, be natural calm and cheerfull enjoy ur day with people around u, identify ur fears overcome them and do well in SSB dont think ur going for job interview or etc. think that u are going to choose the life of career where u will neveer look back at all and one thing bro believe in ur capabilities as only u know wht u are and what u can do. I can try to help u out brother for any queiries call me on +91-9241866842… Jai hind Jai Jawan.

Dear Manikandan, it will never workout!! It is like trying to reach the moon on a helicopter. Even the first batch of LE IPS officers have not been selected due to various problems created by the Armed Forces. So well if your ambition is to become an IPS then work towards it rather than choosing the easy way or shortcut!!

Hello Sir,

I have many questions to be asked as last time in the month of February I has attended SSB for NCC entry however got conference out. I know I did not do well in my interview. Below are the list of questions which I have doubt:

1) When I entered the room Sir asked me if in tensed. I replied No but Im little nervous. Sir asked why I told this is first time I’m giving my interview to President.
2) I said at times I’m lazy however if in not able to make for jogging in the morning then I go exercise at home.
3) But when I go to jogging I completed 4 rounds in 15 minutes which is equal to 2 km. then Sir asked me then maths questions related to speed and time that how much average time you take then. As I was little bad in maths I gave the answer but told that I’m bad in maths twice.
4) The main problem is that I did not try for any of the 3 Armed force after completing my college in year 2008 as there were some restriction from my family side. But I always wanted to join. Sir then asked me why you dint not try I told the same reason the next question was what reason I told because my father and brother told it is not good for girls. This could be the negative point taken..? but I told I have convinced them and I started tying as this was my 2nd attempt and 1st time I was screen out.
5) As I work since 2009 till date for corporate MNC company whether this could make any bad impression on IO.
6) Also please can provided me your mail I’d so that I could write my doubts directly.

I would be happy to know my shortcoming and will improve for my next SSB as I have next SSB in the month of April.

Thank you,

I am a engineering graduate in IT and i desperately want to join Indian defense services, i have been conference out 3 times in ssb. With all due respect i want to ask a query from you, why such a high cut-off system is introduced in Indian navy technical entry, while defense forces say that we require a average student?
Further why Info technology branch was not coming in Indian army technical entry from past one n half year but Computer science was coming, I mean CS and IT have almost same subjects even IT has got one more subject then CS in every semester?
Though now from last SSC tech entry they have introduced IT. Thanks a ton to the Indian Army.
