I feel that boarding schools do not impart the basic discipline which parents do at home to their kids..

Abhi January 27, 2012 at 1:21 am

Ya that’s true that teachers at boarding school can’t take the place of parents and can’t because they don’t have that emotional attachments with the kids which parents have, but still there are some benefits of boarding school which also can’t be neglected.. like in boarding school a child gets more exposure as he became independent and he can face unknown persons more boldly where a day scholar remains in a pampered atmosphere of his parents and friends…

sir I feel that day schlor is better option for a child because of following reasons:
1) Family is the best place for a child to learn basic moral values, which decides future course of one’s life.
2)parental love that a child receives from his parents at home creates bondage between child and family which is difficult to have in boarding school
3)when child is at home he experiences various kinds of resonsibilities towards family and society which is not possible in boarding school.

I personally feel that boarding school are better in way than day-scholar one. This is because real life is not that easy as it seems. you need to face new challenges. You need to interact and handle all types of people. You need to do many things on your on own. In a way you have to become self dependable. This kind of atmosphere is provided in boarding school only. Parental love and family values have importance of their own but your decision power becomes strong only when you take many decisions on your own. For initial days of schooling day-scholar is well and good but for intermediate and higher stages Boarding is ultimate choice as it helps one to prepare for the future…

1. home is the place at which a child learn how to deal with society ,learn different relation ,responsibilty besides study.

we can later on prefer option of BOARDING COLLEGE but as per schooling day scholar is the best otherwise child lack the social affection.

At that age child doesnot need to come-out of so CALLED PAMPERED feeling.

vinay January 27, 2012 at 1:36 pm

boarding school teaches the kids better social dynamics. these kids are much more confident of themselves and much more outgoing than their dayscholar counterparts. there is much better discipline imparted to them too. hence they dont feel out of place in hostels and various defence academies where one has to look after themselves.they learn to be responsible for themselves. they are street smart and adjust to surroundings much more efficiently.

Abhi January 28, 2012 at 12:51 am

@JITENDER KUMAR SINGH ya you are true actually I was also referring for preferring for boarding after initial schooling as it is obvious man who will send their tiny tots in boarding in their initial year of life… there is a endless debate on this topic so we have to put our own points as I’m not only a supporter of the boarding and not of day schooling I support both as both have their benefit… So it is better that after completing initial schooling as a day scholar a child should be sent to boarding where he could learn things like becoming independent and developing leadership qualities and also boarding school gives student a chance to see life more vividly and enjoy its multi-dimensional activities.. That’s why schooling in boarding is congenial for all around development..

I personally think that in the initial stages of education day scholar is better and later on prefer with the boarding school option as it makes the child much more self dependant…… we see that many of the children get addicted to alcohal now a days and ruin their future so its better to opt boarding school later as it would provide the love of parents as well as make their more responsible in the daily life……..and more over it depends on child how he adopts the situation……..

@ ABHI:-

1. AS YOU CAN SEE THAT IN CASE OF military schools, sainik school ,NAVODAYA schools which all starting day boarding after PRIMARY (6th class onwards)

for the sake of their wards future.

2. due to their busy corporate or professional life some parents do send their childrens for boarding

Amit tyagi January 29, 2012 at 6:01 am

yes its right that boarding school make a child responsible from his early life.
but these school cant learn basic discipline n importance
of relations.
n when a child live 24 hr with his friend he easily catch bad habit .
bcz a child can be mold at this stage.
while he live with his parents they told hm wt is gd fr him n wt is bad.

In my view.. normal day scholar type school would make the child a better person as he/she would get the benefit of two both the school and the family.Since home is the first school of a child where he/she learns the basic rules of life, where he has been thought the morals of life. so as a day scholar he/she would be able to learn more. the education which he/she gets in school and the lessons which he/she learns from his/her family. Education, discipline, sports spirit, determination and many other traits and abilities can be thought to a child with a joint effort of school and family. with the help of these two the child would be able to become a balanced person

pranav January 30, 2012 at 7:45 am

I believe boarding school to be a better option,as in boarding school a student gets a good environment for his overall development which cannot be present at his home. Also by being with other students a person will learn to live and cooperate with other people and learn how to work in a group

Aravind JP January 31, 2012 at 11:20 am

In my opinion most important thing is, when the child is send to boarding school.

I believe till at least 10th class , child must be raised as a day scholar.During his initial schooling he will face many emotional and academic pitfalls and during this time it is must for a parent to be with the child to give him a helping hand , mould his personality and prepare him for his adult life.If not parent , at least some one who cares for the child, which is lacking in our modern boarding schools.

If during these years child is over pampered and as a result of which he becomes shy and develop other negative qualities it is a mistake in parenting and not a generalized problem of a day scholar.

In my opinion after secondary school, boarding school education for the child should be preferred .But it should never be forced on the child rather it should be encouraged by the parent so that child accept this fact willingly.

Tasmin Banu February 2, 2012 at 2:42 pm

I think that a Child should be given the elementary education as a day scholar.By this i mean till class 10 the child should be given proper care and education from the family. He should have an idea about the practical life of responsibility and his behaviour towards others. As he completes its initial phase he can move for some boarding school.By now he is quite aware of the pros and cons of various situation and could able to take care of himself in any harsh circumstances.Thats why i think both type of school are necessary to be a good human being.

sunil February 4, 2012 at 11:50 am

Dear friends,i respect your views & may agree to some points but as per my opinion boarding school is the best option.
1.It provides the best environment a child for overall developments.
2.Here he gets a discipline life.He has a timetable for all activities such as study time, eating time, games, recreation time & fix time for sleep.
3.The most important is that he can`t escape from this schedule,he has to follow.
4.As my above friend said,he learn to take responsibility, doing all his job own,.more he get to know how to behave & live with others.i agreed.
5.He get more exposer here,& becomes daring & bold. he know the real value of relationship & he becomes more attached to family .
I must say eventually its parents who decide how they wish to bring up his child.

sankalp February 13, 2012 at 2:19 pm

According to my perspective, normal school will be better for a proper growth of child. Few reasons are
1. A child needs parents guidance and their help in its initial phase of life which is important for the mental growth.
2. It is always better to put a child into secured environment first and then gradually make him/her independent.
3. The most secured environment for a child is always with its parents and the school guide.
4. When the child completes its primary education, atleast he/she is capable of managing his/her schedule on own.
Thus, it is always good to start the education for a child with a normal school.

In my opinion in initial years day scholar is appropriate option. but after a certain period boarding is good option in order to have a disciplined life.At times parents due to affection could not make sever decisions and sometimes it leads to unwanted results. So both are necessary to make a responsible, social person.

Navaneeth March 21, 2012 at 4:10 am

In my opinion both boarding as well as day scholar have their own stand and are equally important. Day scholars spending time with their family till high school have a good exposure to society ,a good family bonding and and a feeling of responsibilty for their family. Boarding schools are good in the higher secondary level where the child is stepping into a new phase of his life . where he is concerned about his future plans. Boarding schools provide exposure to a life of their own, where they learn to do things of their own, ability to make own decisions, money management and better adaptibilty to new places quickly. So, a mix of both day schooling and boarding for a child will be a better option in my opinion.

Gagan Bhaskar April 7, 2012 at 4:47 pm

I don’t think so that boarding schools do not impart the basic discipline because a child has to learn many-many things like in boarding school that at a home scholars can do.
1-A child can be more self dependent than home scholars.
2-At there the teachers will be more stricts than parents.
3-A child have to intract with unknown people by this they bacame bold and talk without hasitation.
4-At boarding school teachers plays the role of a teacher as well as parents and by this a child takes the love the of the parents also.
5-and most important boarding school gives the ability to think and do work independently, give the ability to live in different environment with different types of people that a home scholars never does.

Bichismita Shasani April 11, 2012 at 10:33 am

According to my point of view boarding school can have a proper and better impact on a child though many a times comparing the impacts with that of a family’s impact become a very tough task. A child till its primary level of education should stay at home with its family only, as this is the age when the child can be learned the basic sriritual, moral and social values from the love , care and affection of his family menbers. But at a stage of secondray eduacation level boarding school might be preferred where the child will get a vast and unfamiliar environment but will learn to make it familiar with some days. More exposure to the society outside own family will make him to learn the tactics of adjustment. They will get a more competetive environment and the thing that i should emphasise the most is that they will learn to take decisions in their own way, will have their own idea of social conduct and will be strong enough to face the more complicated situations later on in a very better manner than that of a day scholar. But afterall before taking such a decision ofr a chid the parents should make sure that their child is getting all those prescribed facilities and care in the boarding school because forcibly imparting their own decision on a child will rather lead to development of negative and unsocial behaviour in the child’s mind which is very immature at that age and it also may be a reason to develop a unfavourable psychological perception towards his family, friends and relationship.

i think boarding school is better for the children to be well disciplined in their daily life as compared to the normal school.

ayushi chamoli November 26, 2012 at 10:53 pm

In my opinion, a normal day scholar school is more important than a boarding school to make a child a better person. The things which a parent can teach to a child cant be compared to that taught by a warden in hostel. Their are some of the basic manners too which a child is taught by a parent because a parent keeps his/her watch on a child’s each and every move, every thing a child does and every word tht he/she utters. a boarding school can only groom a child in professional aspect whereas day scholar schools groom a child in every respect and bring out an all rounder.
