Interview questions and answers

Readers may type it in the comment box given below, we will later put them in the page..

Q. Tell me about yourself

This is a very generic question in which you can say almost anything about yourself. Unfortunately most interviewees use the opportunity to recount their bio-data lying in front of the interviewer. Prepare yourself for such a question so that you can tell them those things that are not in the bio-data form, such as your special traits, qualities, achievements, aspirations, motivations and ambitions. The interviewer will be very impressed. Remember that a two sentence answer will make the interviewer feel that there is so little to know about you. You should be able to say a lot with out being verbose or self-opinionated. You can take full control of the interview based on the answer you give him. Giving false claims will put you in trouble, so try to prepare in advance for the follow up questions that will come as a result of your narration about you.

Q. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

This is a question that has stumped a number of interviewees. It is ascertained to know how much you know about yourself. A person who knows oneself in life is more effective in life. However many candidates find it very difficult to verbalise their strengths and weaknesses. Some may have not given thought to it; others shy away from the fear of blowing their own trumpet. It is easy to verbalise strength but it is very difficult to articulate weaknesses. Candidates should try to give weaknesses that will not jeopardize their chances in the interview. However interviewers view statements of weaknesses as being very normal, disarming, sincere and honest. Remember to go to your next interview having thought well in advance what your strengths and weaknesses are. Weakness like poor spoken english, smoking, adamant, very sporty, etc which will not affect your profession as well as which  can be easily improved must be told as your weakness to the interviewing officer. The above mentioned weakness areas are only some examples and you may find some more / more suitable weakness areas as per your personality !!!!!

Hi Kumar,
I really appreciate for your time and patience in guiding us to achieve our
everlasting goals.
I am going to attend my first SSB through Indain Coast guard for
(Assistant Commandant General Duty)and there is an Preliminary Selection on 28/02/11,And I came to know that there will be IQ test wihich consists of 80-85 questions on (Verbal and Non Verbal reasoning) which need to be solved in 30-35min, followed by a PPDT , from your blog, and I want to know from you that what would be the cutoff mark to clear in verbal and non verbal reasoning part , i mean how many questions need i should attempt correctly ,as I may not attempt all questions properly as we have a less amount time, and will be there any negative marking for each wrong answer in IQ Test, and in Screening test which part has more weightage ie(IQ TEST or PPDT) how the final result would calculated for Screening test.

I will be waiting for your reply,I think you being a defence person might be busy but please kindly expedite my request and suggest me your valuable feedback as that would help me a lot.

Thanking you,
Prabhu kiran,
( A Future defence personnel) .

Dear Sir,
Please tell me that whether candidates with a stammering problem satnds a chance to clear the interview or they don’t have any chance????

Col JS Bhullar, Retd August 11, 2013 at 10:07 pm

SSB Interview has most of the events where the candidates is required to speak extensively, and that too, when all other candidates are competing with each other to impress the Assessing Officer. In such a case stammering to some extent can be ignored but if the candidate fails to have clarity and express oneself effectively, the chances of success are diminished.
You can overcome stammering by being deliberate while talking and practising it in front of mirror. Have faith in yourself and practise regularly for a month. Hritick Roshan overcame stammering and so can you.

praveen June 29, 2011 at 12:41 am

In navy interview the interviewer officer will not ask technical question, he will try to judge your communication skills, confidens level, and some about your self.
don’t worry…

Nutan Swami August 6, 2011 at 2:05 pm

hello kumar,
extraordinary and noble job is being done by this site…hats off to you
i have completed b-tech, 2011batch. I appeared for CDS-1-2011 and qualify for Indian Navy. Now my SSB date is on 25Aug2011 at 33SSB bhopal.
The main concern of mine is all about interview and are as followed:
1. If interviewer ask “Did u take any coaching?” and If i answer “Yes Sir”
Does it create a bad impression?
2. I am technically weak. what should i do? (remaining time is very less)
3. Would you please put some light on Indian Naval ships and the current issues of Indian navy?
Extremely sorry 🙁 for a long post. but i did not have another option 😮
Thank you

Kumar August 7, 2011 at 5:55 am

1. creates an impression that u r not ur realself well…weakness is 80% mental and 20 % physical
3. the nswer to this question u will get from indian navy website…if u need to know about a specific class of ship or something specific u plz ask me

Nutan Swami August 10, 2011 at 12:17 pm

hahahahahahahaaaa 🙂
I am super glad to see your humorous answers…now confidence is on great heights…thank you…you are such a gentleman…no doubt 😮

So i have decided…i will say NO when asked about SSB coaching…honesty is the bast policy but not always..i will surely manipulate anyhow…and will try to show real and original Nutan Swami not fake.

Nutan Swami August 10, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Hellooo Kumar 😉
1.when a man join indian navy, on which ship he has to work?
is it destroyer?
2.what is sub-lieutenant’s actual work or job on the ship?
Thank you for guidance…O.o

in our batch 3 candiadtes were selected n tey were already recommended twice….so they made a hat trick….n even few recommended candidates were conference out there

mahi February 7, 2012 at 6:11 am

sir can u plz tell me that if interviewer asks bout te good and bad qualities of freinds and present employer then should we tell him the good as well as bad or only the goods qualities.cause he say that NOBODY IS PERFECT, EVERYBODY IS HAVING SOME GOOD AS WELL AS BAD then what should b our reply if u can guide as plz

KUMAR February 7, 2012 at 4:47 pm

Mahi, i advice you to give an elaborate answer regarding the good qualities and take most of the time to answer on the good qualities part and just give 2 or 3 bad qualities about them. Be careful while you list the bad quality.

mahi February 7, 2012 at 6:17 am

dear swet sagar, can u plz tell me what u replied when he ask bout ur frens positive and negative qualities. plz reply dear.

kamlesh February 8, 2012 at 9:53 am

thnx sir….i need some more help
there is a possible question in next ssb that….”why u were not selected in previous attempts ?”
…..the reason is unknown thogh one can only guess it..or make assumptions
….so citing a particular instance or mistake in test….is it right ???

and the other question is…-ve quality
i said that i am overconfident at times…..and this has harmed me and i was nt able to clear my previous upsc….however proper feedback by my friends and parents has helped me a lot….and ive cleared my upsc

soo… is it worth mentioning or…its a bad quality that cannot be improved

KUMAR February 8, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Kamlesh you can always tell that you did not do your individual obstacles properly !!! that will cause least damage to you

KUMAR February 13, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Mahi, are you married???? the first question is aimed at knowing how much a frank person you are?? to many people do you disclose your secrets etc???
the second question is to find out your ability to be mature and understand what is correct and what is wrong. as a leader you must be able to judge others. so the interviewer is trying to find this quality in you?

Divesh, no!!!! once you have changed to 4 th Apr you cannot change. If you have time then you can do it. But in your case there is hardly any time. So they might not encourage this!!

rohit sharma March 11, 2012 at 4:46 am

bhardwaj April 8, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Dear Sir,

Could you please provide some detailed information regarding the education branch in the indian navy mainly in terms of the profile in the initial years and how it changes later, and
2. areas of specialization

KUMAR April 9, 2012 at 5:50 pm

Dear Bharadwaj, Education branch is a very good branch. If you ask me in the context of career progression and promotions then my reply might disappoint you. But in a personal context it is a very good branch. You will get enough time to be in big cities and always with your family. The branch gives you very high chances of doing post graduation from IIT and IIS. There are ample number of seats in IIT and other prestigious colleges reserved for education officers. Overall a good branch where you will get opportunity to take care of your personal goals(higher education) and family goals , but at the cost of professional growth.
If I had a son or daughter I would definitely reccommend this branch for him/her.

Subrahmanyam March 5, 2013 at 4:56 pm

Sir, Do the Education officers have chances to become MARCOs. I come from Computer Science Background, so is there any chance that they will do Technical stuff related to IT. Recently Navy advertised for IT officers, so do education officers joined with Compter Science Engineering specialization can also be part of these IT operations? Thanks in Advance Sir 🙂

bharadwaj April 11, 2012 at 5:46 am

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I think I have a better picture of the education branch now. I recently attended an SSB interview and I am currently preparing a document detailing my experiences and I will mail it to you as soon as I complete it.

KUMAR April 11, 2012 at 10:34 am

Thanx Bharadwaj!!

anjuri srivastava April 11, 2012 at 1:08 pm

respected sir, is it importent to know about english language deeply in interview? tell me that any other centre available instead of banglore?

KUMAR April 12, 2012 at 2:27 pm

Dear Anjuri, Deep knowledge of English is not required, but at the same time your english should be good enough such that you donot create a mockery out of yourself in front of jawans/airmen/sailors!!! That is one big concern. You must be able to communicate freely in english, write correspondence in english with minimum/less spelling/grammatical errors. Thats it.

MONU SINGH SHEKHAWAT April 18, 2012 at 6:53 am

Respected sir,i have my ssb on 27th of april and sir i have one question gambling in my mind…if they ask me…y did u discontinue ur studies after 12th?the fact is im nt interested actually?and my father also cannot afford the fees of engineering….so sir wt can be the relevant answer 2 it…..pls reply me soon sir…

KUMAR April 19, 2012 at 2:30 pm

MONU SINGH SHEKHAWAT April 20, 2012 at 4:05 am

SIR,can i say like… nt interested sir and further if they ask me…..then i would state that my father could nt afford the fees… that ok sir…..rply me soon sir

Sankalp Brahma April 23, 2012 at 5:05 am

respected sir,
my name is sankalp . i will be completing my MBA in Shipping Management from Indian Maritime Univ on july 2012. I am looking forward to apply for the Logistics cadre but before applying i wanted to know a few question that have been confusing me.
1- while applying online, the site asks for the under graduation marks after filling up the 2 yrs marks scored during the completion of MBA.
my question to you is sir, why is the under graduation marks being asked when higher qualification is entered as MBA. and if the MBA score goes for the cut off list.. how much percentage should a person have to get a call for the ssb.

with much regards

KUMAR April 23, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Dear Sankalp,
The bachelors marks are asked for purpose of documentation only and does not involve your selection criteria in that. Your marks during MBA will be taken for cutoff. And let me tell you above 65% of marks most of the applicants will receive their call letter for SSB. The selection or rejection what ever you may call is after that. 🙂

Tarun Goswami April 25, 2012 at 10:50 am

Hello Kumar Sir,
As I have got 65% in 10th and 63.6% in 12th, However, i managed to pass my engineering with 71.9%. I also had 2 years of gap between 12th and Engineering because of engineering competition preparation. I wanted to know, would it hamper my chance to get selected in SSB as i have 2 years of educational gap and my percentage in 10th and 12th is not much satisfactorily.

Now i am going for my next ssb. sir u know there r some questions at ssb will come in front of u suddenly and the mind will become blank.
Sir will you provide some use full tips for the personal intervie

KUMAR May 31, 2012 at 2:51 am

Dear Deepu, ask yourself why you want to join navy/armed forces????? Dont think of it as a job. It is a way of life. So you need to change your attitude!!!! No wonder the interviewing officer shouted on you if you cannot answer this question!!! Our study materials will give you a fair idea of the probable questions that will be asked in the interview and how to answer them. So I would suggest you to enroll and take our study materials so that atleast you can be better prepared. Because from your comment I can make out that you were totally unprepared!!!

Sir, I have 3 years gap after 12th then did mechanical engg. the actual reason is I was forced to do B.A. or not by my family just because of situations of my family. I did BA with maths but for 1 year only then two year preparation from my v small hometown and got admission in engg college. I did my engg with v good marks. that is the only point worrying me for interview. Though i did all on my own I am the only girl from my village studying and living outside….. Sir, would you please guide me.

Uday Kumar June 20, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Dear Mahima Singh, you need not worry about it…you can tell the interviewing officer about this issue. This will not be a problem . If you have some specific problems related to this you may send me your question to my gmail account.

Manoj Kumar July 5, 2012 at 8:35 pm

Actually your marks does not decide your selction. Its just what you perform is SSB considered. Be prepared for 1 question- Why your education graph (%) is sloping downward?

Ankit Gupta July 14, 2012 at 12:17 am

thanx manoj sir……m really grateful to you……..

drmajit July 5, 2012 at 5:08 pm

Uday Kumar July 6, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Dishesh Jani July 8, 2012 at 11:36 am

I’m from Gujarat and I want to be a Pilot in Indian Airforce.
I want to know about Physical Fitness to join NDA.

Please tell me how to prepare myself for NDA.

Anticipating in advance…

uday July 9, 2012 at 10:07 pm

Dear Dishesh, there is no particular physical fitness test to join NDA or for that matter any Defence Academy. You just have to clear the written exam of NDA and then clear the SSB interview. You must not have any medical problems and must not be over weight for your height.!!!

LALIT KUMAR July 10, 2012 at 11:55 am

sir IS their is scope for IT graduate to join armed forces as an officer in permanent service commission…not in ssc ..

uday July 10, 2012 at 7:38 pm

Dear Lalit, if you join through CDS and choose to join IT branch after commissioning (you will get opportunity to opt to IT branch from Executive) then you will be a permanent commission IT officer!!

Sagar July 10, 2012 at 8:58 pm

My Percentage In 10th Was 80, And In 12th It Was 59 After That I Have Taken A Year Drop To Prepare For My Engineering Entrance Exams, In spite Of Taking The Drop I Am Not Able To Get Admission In A Good Engineering College. I Have My Last Attempt Remaining For AIEEE And Again I Am Taking A Year Drop So That I Can Get Admission In A Good College Like The NITs.
So Sir, My Question Is That Will It Hamper My Chance Of Getting Recommended At The SSB Interview?
I Have Been Conference Out At My Last SSB For 128th NDA Course, This Is My Last Attempt.

LALIT KUMAR July 11, 2012 at 11:24 am

Dishesh Jani July 11, 2012 at 9:52 pm

thanx sir….

balachandar July 13, 2012 at 9:56 pm

Sir —

My DOB is 01-June-1986. As per Indian Navy’s current advertisement for IT officers I can’t attend.

Since I am an OBC candidate Is it there any age relaxation available?

Please clarify my doubt and tell me if there any alternate solution to attend this interview.

Himanshu Gupta July 15, 2012 at 6:58 pm

Dear Sir,
I was conferenced out in my first SSB at 1, AFSB Dehradun in January 2012. Now I have 3 SSB’s piled up this year – NDA, Army TES, navy TES. I think last time I was bad at many places- interview, GTO and SRT also.Following are my few questions:

1. Last time my interviewer asked my rank in my group on the basis of performance. I knew I didn’t do well in GTO tasks, so i said 4th. His reply was, ” Ohh, you’re being too modest , huh!?!”. Was my answer correct?? Or should i have said 1st?

2. I am actually not good at physical and outdoor tasks. I could do only 5 individual obstacles. One high jump I couldn’t do even after trying it 4 times!!One of my SSB’s is next month. I know I can develop those skills but it would take time.(I have to join a gym ,i think). Please give some tips if you can. Also, should i try my individual obstacle 2nd time after failing in the 1st attempt??.or just move on to next??

Please anwer me these questions.I am very desperate to get recommended this time.!!I have read a lot about you!!..Thank you in advace sir.

prakash July 20, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Tarun July 26, 2012 at 11:45 am

I am a Graduate pass out 2012 and have applied for SSC(IT) Entry.
I want to ask that I have attended SSB ( NDA entry ) in Oct 2009 & got not recommended. will it reduce my chances for selection.Including this I have secured X(69.66%) XII (75.6%) B.Tech(65.93%) So the downfall of my percentage in Btech may create hurdle for my selection.

With regards

sujan July 27, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Hi all Graduates Mainly from Eletrical, Eletronics, Communication and Commputers or IT Students remeber thst Indian Navy Fixes a Cutt off every time and this time it was 70% for some and 71% for some Dec 2012 Courses i had enquired with Head Quarters as i had only 60% i was not eligible for
Indian Navy Anymore and still i am applying but never got call letter. So i want say that if anyone is not getting call letter for navy with below 70% means dont feel bad prepare for other Services like air force and Army and coast guard and till now i gave 6 Written Exams (2-NDA, 2-CDS, 2-AFCAT) never cleared and even for sainik school i was not selected and gave 8SSB’s (5-Army(3-SO, 2-CO), 1-Navy(CO), 2-Coast Guard(1-SO,1-CO)).
But still my journey continues i wish all the very best for you all and i know soon i will be uniform but waiting for my Day. Forgot to Say i applied even for Sailors, Airmen TECHNICAL& Non Technical, Soldier General Duty after 10 & 12th but was not selected. but still now i am happy that bcoz i had age to try for services and at the same time i am working in good company TCS. I also suggest all Defense Aspirants that first settle in a job and try for Services as you dont when ur day comes dont say that you will try without job even Interviewing officer will not believe it and i hope no one crazy like me where even i applied for jawan, sailor and airmen posts and was not selected in those so i am saying seriously that first get a job all graduates and try for services till you have chance and i know everyone will get our turn. if i spoke something rubbish dont mind it and if it is usefull thank you.

Jai Hind Jai Jawan…
anyone can contact me on 09241866842 for any suggestion but remember u are good teacher to urself than any one:):):):)

Rahul September 30, 2012 at 4:15 pm

I have cleared AFCAT 02/2012, and my ssb id=s due in few week time. This will be my second ssb after 2009 through cds, (i was conference out). I have prepared some answers to the best of my knowledge and would like to share with you .
Q: your strengths and weakness?
A: Strengths: honesty, integrity, belief on my conviction helpful. (there are certain real life incidents that made me realize these attributes)
Weakness: I sometimes am adamant , I am trying to be more convincing rather than being adamant.
Q: Why Air force ?
A: I believe we can serve our country by doing our work best to our abilities, yet I chose armed forces due to following reasons. Quality of life, good salary, only place where physical fitness given equal importance as regular work.
Q: What if you are not selected ?
A: I will analyze my performance here, improve my abilities and when I belive I have improved I will come back again.
Q: If not selected any time?
A: As I am already pursuing M.Tech from NIT Jalandhar. I have decided on three career operations 1: Armed forces 2: Civil services 3: Teaching. If not selected here I will prepare for civil services.
Q:I want to know about your percentage from class 8 onwards ? Why was their a decrease of % from class 10 to B.Tech(I got 81% in 10 and 65 in 12 and 61 in
A: I have always been an average performer . reason for my decrease in percentage is that though I have been sincere in my work , I have experimented a lot tried new things which sometimes were successful and sometimes resulted in failures. In 10th I had just one aim to secure 80% marks because I had always secured in 60-70%. While I moved in 11th and 12th , I aimed at getting into IIT for engineering where I realized it was only necessary to pass with 60 %, therefore I devoted more time to competitive preparation, though I never made to IIT or NIT. Yet I managed to secure seat in one of the most reputed college of Himachal Pradesh . During engineering I again experimented with my aims /ambitions and decided to develop myself . Therefore I started to participate in events like GD, developed a habit of reading newspaper, magazines etc. Most of my time was spent gaining knowledge from varied spheres of life. After completion of my I chose not go for MBA as I realized it was not my cup of tea, therefore I prepared for GATE , qualified it in 2011 and joined M.Tech in VLSI design from NIT jalandhar.

Q: How do your friends see you as?Tell me 2 positive and 2 negative things your friends think you have?
A: My friends see me as helpful and caring friend, they always find me standing by them when they need me. Positive: Helpful, enjoy spending time with me. Negative: find me lill formal when asking help from them , since I intend to solve my problems myself first before asking for help.

Q: which books do your read? Name the books you have recently read? Name the authors of those books? Give a brief gist of the book? Who is your favorite author?
when do you wake up in the morning? How do you keep yourself fit?
A: I like non fiction, biographies, spiritual books. I have read “Better India , better world” by Narayan Murthy, “science spirituality and nature of reality” a discussion between T.D singh and D.r Penrose. No favourite author as I read quite diversely so have not developed a single favourite. During college time I wake up at 7 am during holidays around 10 am.

Sir, can u plz tell if palm sweating is one of the causes of rejection, i have applied for Administrative branch in air force and they havn’t mentioned anything like this on the site…also if tat is the case then is it permanent rejection or one can look for some treatment and apply again?

uday1 December 5, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Dear Prakrti, Dont worry about palm sweating. It is not a big issue!! Do attend your SSB and try to clear it!!

nitin December 8, 2012 at 1:43 pm

Dear Prakrti,

Yes, palm sweating (hyperhidrosis) is one of the most frequent reasons of rejection in armed forces. The reason behind this is your grip is not strong enough while you sweat. It may hamper your performance in many ways including during weapon training. Although there are remedies for this problem. One of the best and cheapest is applying ‘white vinegar (not synthetic) and rose water’ mixture over your palms.

sujan December 13, 2012 at 3:26 pm

@pranshu Firstly congratulations, for verification f u filled ur present and permanent address same then no issues but if u fill different means u should take care that someone will be available at that address during verification process to sign on it,

for navy dont worry about merit list u will be definitely be in and merit list is made by ur OIR rating ur marks scored in Individual obstacles and total marks u scored in ssb which is for 900 including these all ur merit list will be prepared so stop worrying about it and as armed always say keep backup. so dont leave ur job until u get merit list out as navy will call u to ur number which u mentioned in PIQ they will not display the merit list in any website. So get prepared both physically and mentally for training jai hind jai jawan for any queiries call me on 9241866842

sujan December 13, 2012 at 3:29 pm

sujan December 13, 2012 at 3:43 pm

@suvardhan yes u can attend brother no issues but being fresher is a golden egg u have earn when u had chance but it doesnt mean that repeater cant as far as i know repeater should focus more than a fresher but give ur best in both ssb jai hin jai jawan

sujan December 13, 2012 at 3:50 pm

@kaushik sorry to say brother to be armed forces u should not have ur weakness as fear, remember Martyr Captain Vikram Batra He is inspiration for many repeaters like me who cleared in 12th attempt, if he had a fear as weakness today no one know him why i told u that means if u had that as weakness u are not eligible for being armed forces sorry to say like that but its fact brother if show our weakness as fear then how can u protect ur motherland, motivate man and how u will fight for ur country think one’s brother let me know if u still feel it as ur weakness is fear, call me on my number 9241866842 jai hind jai jawan

vinit singh December 14, 2012 at 11:04 am

gud morning sir…sir my question is what is the cut of percantage for the call letter of the indian coast guard for the officers entry…my percntage is 63%.but still i dn get the call latter for the interview….although the elligibility is 60%.

uday1 December 14, 2012 at 11:36 pm

Vinit you will have to wait and watch… if there are too many applicants then a cut off will be decided for selecting candidates for interview. Since 63% is on the lesser side you will have to wait

sujan December 15, 2012 at 12:20 pm

sorry to interupt ur answer sir @vinit while u apply for coast gurad only u have to print the acknowledgement on which date, time and venue will be given according to ur choice and according to that u should move to the ur venue with 2 copies of print out, there is no seperate call up letter for coast guard if u forgot print ur application after submission go and get it from reprint option give in join coast guard, and the date u report will be screening process and for next process i mean remaining ssb process they will send u mail and list will be uploaded in coast guard website, they will not send any call letter so reprint ur application and prepare for PSB all the best brother.. Jai hind Jai Jawan

uday1 December 15, 2012 at 11:27 pm

sujan December 21, 2012 at 10:48 am

@sharma could you please be clear in your question, and if u are asking what type of story to write in TAT means, u should write natural day to day life story according to picture and should be quick in action in the story and it should show ur quality brother, but dont show more heroism, give ur natural response, relate ur story to picture, all the best brother..Jai hind jai Jawan. for any more doubts post here

sujan December 21, 2012 at 10:49 am

@love write normal story in ppdt, do well in preliminary interview then u will definitely get call for ssb for UES all the best brother jai hind jai jawan

yugandhar.yadam December 21, 2012 at 11:14 am

sir, good morning. I came to know about SSB interview very late. I want to join in army. My age is at present 24. But I have 6/12 sight on both eyes. My friends told me that even I clear in first 5 days test, I will be rejected in medical test. Is it so? What should I do? Why Army put this hurdle? I am quite enthusiastic to serve the mother land as it is my duty.

sujan December 21, 2012 at 12:10 pm

@yugandhar hi brother i appreciate ur enthusiasm, as every armed force says that have a backup plan, so u should also have it, go for ssb clear it, check in the join indian army website for the medical standards, if u dont clear medicals u continue ur normal life, if u clear medicals then get ready to wear uniform, so there is no problem in trying and give ur best leave everything for god brother. if ur destiny is it u will get it brother so go for it and for army as per ur age now u dont have chance through CDS if u are a graduate u can go for Technical entries as direct entry brother, and also airforce notification is out check out in brother.. all the best for ur future.. Jai hind Jai Jawan.

If yes than please explain how?

sujan December 31, 2012 at 8:49 am

@yogeshkumar TA can be turned to permanent when ur service is good and it depends on ur CO(commanding officer after joining TA). So its totally dependant on you dear bro Jai Hind Jai Jawan

Yogeshkumar A Chaudhary January 3, 2013 at 9:18 am

Thank you very much.

Pushpa January 2, 2013 at 4:39 pm

I have applied for coast guard general duty. I have my PSB very soon..From where I should prepare for intelligence tests exclusively?? Pls do reply sir…!!

sujan January 2, 2013 at 6:19 pm

@pushpa You can prepare from RS agarwal and also website called
these both will help u out and also keep managing time as in PSB the intelligence test will be bit different compared ssb as they will project questions on the screen and u should encircle in a OMR where u should be really very quick so i wish u all the best as the time for question will around 3 to 7 secs and there are 7 sections around 70 questions so do well if u clear the intelligence test then only u will be allowed for PPDT. Jai Hind Jai Jawan

sujan January 15, 2013 at 2:31 pm

@Amandeep Singh Firstly i would like to say that there is no rule that you should be very fluent in any language(importantly English/ hindi) but at the same time yes its bit added advantage and helps you alot to understand your view clearly rather than any other language and but still it doesnt matter SSB is not a corporate selection to see english proficiency it looks how u are able to express ur view clarly on thing so be crystal clear and all the best my dear brother Jai hind Jai Jawan

sujan January 15, 2013 at 2:43 pm

@aditya pandey Hi brother firstly dont loose ur hope and confidence, always remember u r unique and u r the best so the only thing u should do is give ur best do ur best, prepare well, be natural calm and cheerfull enjoy ur day with people around u, identify ur fears overcome them and do well in SSB dont think ur going for job interview or etc. think that u are going to choose the life of career where u will neveer look back at all and one thing bro believe in ur capabilities as only u know wht u are and what u can do. I can try to help u out brother for any queiries call me on +91-9241866842… Jai hind Jai Jawan.

Manikandan January 25, 2013 at 4:40 pm

Hello sir,
Now I am working in shipbuilding industry, but my ambition is to become an Central force trained IPS officer.I dont want to take UPSC exam directly.I am looking for IPS Limited Exam which they have started since 2011,so I am triying to get in to Armed Forces as well as Paramilitary Forces. Will this affect in SSB interviews?.Please give some suggestion regarding my ambition

uday1 February 5, 2013 at 11:18 pm

Dear Manikandan, it will never workout!! It is like trying to reach the moon on a helicopter. Even the first batch of LE IPS officers have not been selected due to various problems created by the Armed Forces. So well if your ambition is to become an IPS then work towards it rather than choosing the easy way or shortcut!!

Respected Sir,
Currently I am doing MBA from a premier institute and I have FSB. I believe in interview there will be a question about why armed forces after MBA.
My father has a business and he wants me to join it but I was inclined to join armed forces so he said to do MBA after that do whatever you want.
Will there be any problem in interview?

Sweety February 28, 2013 at 2:17 am

Hello Sir,

I have many questions to be asked as last time in the month of February I has attended SSB for NCC entry however got conference out. I know I did not do well in my interview. Below are the list of questions which I have doubt:

1) When I entered the room Sir asked me if in tensed. I replied No but Im little nervous. Sir asked why I told this is first time I’m giving my interview to President.
2) I said at times I’m lazy however if in not able to make for jogging in the morning then I go exercise at home.
3) But when I go to jogging I completed 4 rounds in 15 minutes which is equal to 2 km. then Sir asked me then maths questions related to speed and time that how much average time you take then. As I was little bad in maths I gave the answer but told that I’m bad in maths twice.
4) The main problem is that I did not try for any of the 3 Armed force after completing my college in year 2008 as there were some restriction from my family side. But I always wanted to join. Sir then asked me why you dint not try I told the same reason the next question was what reason I told because my father and brother told it is not good for girls. This could be the negative point taken..? but I told I have convinced them and I started tying as this was my 2nd attempt and 1st time I was screen out.
5) As I work since 2009 till date for corporate MNC company whether this could make any bad impression on IO.
6) Also please can provided me your mail I’d so that I could write my doubts directly.

I would be happy to know my shortcoming and will improve for my next SSB as I have next SSB in the month of April.

Thank you,

3. i have a knock knee .will it make me medically unfit?

Thank you

book your tickets according to your confidence of selection for further rounds

R/Sir, My son was selected in Indian Navy Permanent Commission . He also completed his six month’s training in Ezimala, Kannur. Then he was selected for Naval Architecture Degree Course and now he is doing his Naval Architecture from CUSAT and lived in Southern Naval Base , Kochi. Sir , is there any medical facilities for me and my husband as our son is in Indian Navy (doing his Naval Architecture Course by Navy)?

Alok Jaiswal April 26, 2013 at 11:03 am

Respected sir,
I am a engineering graduate in IT and i desperately want to join Indian defense services, i have been conference out 3 times in ssb. With all due respect i want to ask a query from you, why such a high cut-off system is introduced in Indian navy technical entry, while defense forces say that we require a average student?
Further why Info technology branch was not coming in Indian army technical entry from past one n half year but Computer science was coming, I mean CS and IT have almost same subjects even IT has got one more subject then CS in every semester?
Though now from last SSC tech entry they have introduced IT. Thanks a ton to the Indian Army.

I have a question, I wear specs, my power is -4.00. Am I anyhow eligible to appear in UES? Please reply. Any one with the information.

Shafeeque May 5, 2013 at 11:35 am

I wish to apply for UES LOGISTICS in Indian Navy. I am in my pre-final year of the UG degree. I would like to know if there are any difficult physical tests for the SSB interview. I would also like to know what to expect under this category.
What are other options for a Civil Engineer in Indian Airforce/Navy
Hoping for quick reply.
Thank you.

SARVESH KUMAR May 8, 2013 at 4:25 pm

sir , i am recommended for army and air force . i want to know which one is better. both for technical branch. is in air force getting to group captain(technical) is difficult as compared to colonel in army. which offers more adventure and respect. i have heard , in air force only fighter pilots get respect, does pay and other facilities are same in both the services .my father wants me to go for air force but i want to be in army, i.m.a is very famous, and there”s no ball and even other traditions in air force . since you have seen the services life what you will suggest me ,army or air force.

SARVESH KUMAR May 9, 2013 at 2:57 pm

sir, when i was recommended that time they made me wait about 15-20 min outside during conference,. does that made me a border liner, but when i entered they asked me normal question like what are your backup career plan difference about army and air force s.s.b, suggestions etc, but no s.r.t .i want to know making candidate wait outside during conference is good or bad. is it sign of a border liner reply thank you.

Respected sir,
I’m very glad that this website is doing great job to the candidates. You answered all the queries of candidates to the point. I also have a question that what is the procedure to extend the date of SSB INTERVIEW. My internship period will be from 1 June,2013 to 15 July,2013 so how can I attend SSB interview. This is my first chance to get selected for SSB interview through campus interview. I want to crack the SSB interview in my first attempt so I need some extra period of time after my internship to get well prepared for the SSB interview. I’ll surely work hard for that. Is this be the perfect reason to extend the SSB interview date? My SSB interview is on 21 June, 2013. Please tell me about the solution for this problem.
Waiting for your reply….

MANISH YAADV July 14, 2013 at 5:53 pm

Dear sir, I have applied for SSC(Tech)-41. My ssb is on 22 july 2013. I have two questions:
1.) I had a backlog(Cleared now) in my B.Tech II semester in MathsII. What should i tell to my interviewer when ask about reason of backlog? My academic record is consistently good overall 70% & above. Kindly tell me specific reasons?

2.) I’ve completed M.Tech in ECE also with 9.64 CGPA. Will this fade my chances of selection considering I’m over qualified? Will they expect me to do much better in Intelligence tests than others, as some of my friends say? If yes how much, 80% will be sufficient or not????

Kindly reply me on my email id. as i check it regularly.

I absolutely love your blog and find almost all of your post’s to be what precisely I’m looking for.
Would you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs?
I wouldn’t mind producing a post or elaborating on a
number of the subjects you write about here.
Again, awesome blog!

Hello Sir. I am going for Army SSB. This is my first SSB. I did my Engineering in Computer Sc. & Engineering in year 2012. After searching about 6 months got a pvt job in a software company. But after few months I left the job because of not getting proper satisfaction in pvt job. Then I decided to prepare for govt. jobs and returned my home. But In home I got frustrated because of some family reasons and wasted my 10 months (didn’t study anything, although I wanted to). I am good in studies and I know that I have abilities to crack exams, although I am not good in communication skills (just average), because I did my whole study in a hindi medium school. But now sir, I am awaken. So sir, my questions are, what answer should I give the interviewer, if the asks the following questions:

(1) Why did you left your job and are preparing for the Non-technical govt. jobs ?
(2) What did you do in these one and half years (which I said I worked in a company + wasted) ?

How should I convince him ??

Actually sir, I am so much disappointed and diffident because of my past. Will my past also affect my interview and create hurdle in my way to join defense ??

swayam December 16, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Sachin April 2, 2014 at 10:50 am

Stammering: The problem arises for peoples who stammer: Have u ever analyzed why you stammer. Following are the reasons for stammering
Myth: You stammer only for particular words: which is never the case
1. Missing co-ordination of brain and tongue.
2. High Pressure and nervousness
3. Want to speak fast and get out of it

How to control:
Step 1: When you are speaking and you seem to stammer, then it is signal for you to slow down your pace of speaking. Just slow down.
Step 2: Gather the thoughts again, and again start slowly and firmly.
Step 3: feel the confidence while speaking
That’s it!!!

Sachin April 2, 2014 at 10:54 am

The SSB interview aims at selecting the best candidate for best job.
SO, if you want the best job then you need to be best. Even a small mistake will not be tolerated. You have to make up your mind. Don’t take it casually if you are a true SSB aspirant. You need to be perfect at all the task, every question of interview that you will answer, every word arising through your epiglottis should to be perfect, throughout the selection process.
So the million dollar question arises, HOW?
The answer is as simple as it is difficult…
Have sweetness in tongue, calmness in mind and patriotism in heart.
? Positive attitude towards all situations is must. Whatever you explain to others must be understood by him correctly. Use correct words to transmit your thoughts.
? Also the thought transmitted to sentences should be continuous and not the discrete, so that the other person listening to this will get it crystal clear.

Also another important part of interview: The rapid fire
In this interviewer will judge how you react when numbers of different and simple questions are asked to you. He wants how much your grasping capacity is. How do you handle all the questions?
The candidate might forget some of the question.
Well it is usual you will forget some questions but you need to win this part by answering all the questions correctly, may be in slightly different order.
Sample questions asked in interview at rapid fire
1. Tell me your all percentage from 10th onwards
2. Tell me about your most liked and disliked teacher in SSC,HSC,Graduation and why
3. Tell me your hobbies and their advantage
4. Tell me your 3 friends and why they like you and 3 friends why they don’t like you
5. Tell me about your father and mother? To whom more close you are? and why
6. And why you want to join Indian Armed forces

So practice well!!!!!
To develop the habit of listening, recalling and answering all of them needs some practice
Here is the thing that I used to do
1. Gather all the questions on a paper at least 50. Which are simple one and on you only
2. Take 50 pieces of paper and write each question on each paper and fold them
3. Randomly pickup 7-8 pieces of paper.
4. Read each question only once carefully and then try to answer all of them without looking to questions again.
This will definitely help you.

Some of the questions are same across all the interviews so be ready with your answers and bank on them when asked. Answer those questions as a FREE HIT.
1. Tell me about your family background
2. Tell me about your educational background
3. Tell me about you social background
Some challenging questions he might asks are like
1. Tell me the adventurous activity you have done in your life
2. Tell me how will you organize blood donation camp/a cricket match
3. What will be your criteria to eliminate the team
4. Some situations reaction questions might be asked.(and when you are asked this question say congratulations to you that you are on the verge of getting recommended)

Some of the punch lines:
1. Gentleman, As we know that Indian Army/Airforce is laid on the foundation of Leadership and responsibility, If we imbibe these qualities to hero of our story which will make story more interesting and charismatic.
2. Gentleman, Before directly jumping in the storymaking lets recall the picture shown to us. The picture seems to be having a man of 24 yrs. of age and in positive mood ……….

Sometime your body simply cannot tolerate it if it gets into the little intestine.
Chicken is definitely a great alternative, whether you bag up ahead of time with the favorite flavors,
or else you take it to grill wherever you’re going.
Coeliac disease is oftten a serious medical problem affecting around one in 100 Australians
