JOIN NAVY AND SEE THE WORLD

by Uday Kumar on April 18, 2009

FOREIGN VISITS

The Indian navy says ‘join navy and we will show you the world’. True to its words the navy kept its promise by taking me around the world. I was fortunate to visit about a dozen countries in the first year of my service only. The Navy does not give you false promises. My first visit was to Indonesian island of Bali. It was a beautiful island and hottest tourist spot amongst the Indonesian islands. The next destination was Jakarta the capital of Indonesia. Later I went to Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, South Korea, Maldives and Mauritius. Very soon I will be going to Muscat, Oman, Italy and Egypt.

The Indian navy is expanding in its fastest ever pace. New acquaintances are at a major scale. Indian navy is in the process of becoming blue water navy and navy is interested in showing off its acquaintances to the world and establish her power over the sea through out the world. This is the biggest reason for navy to make so many good will visits around the world. This year alone around six ships from the western naval command are going for a foreign cruise to 18 countries. The eastern naval command also has in pipeline some cruises to Australia and south east wherein 4 ships (2 R’ classes and 2 K’ classes) of ships are going.

So all those eager aspirants who have a desire to go abroad free of cost and as dignitaries and ambassadors of our nation then Indian Navy is the best platform for it. A number of appointments such as Defense attaches in foreign countries representing India are available for naval officers wherein you get to serve for about 3 to 4 years in that country.

A number of instructional and staff course appointments are available in foreign countries. With the induction of foreign aircrafts and ships it becomes necessary to train our men in those countries.

There is no seperate SSB pattern for navy, airforce or army. it is the same through out. my previous articles contains adequate info on SSB procedures and interview pattern.

Hi,
Sir, since last few months I was desperately searching for some information on General services executive cadre, but couldn’t get any. I was recommended from Bangalore SSB in July for GS(X); I was a bit hesitant about joining navy. But, after a friend of mine told me about your blog I’m certain that I got the best thing to spend my golden time with. I have gone through it and all doubts are gone forever. Now, I’m confident that I’ll make a difference in my life.
Thank you so much sir for writing such a great content here.
It’s helpful for all the categories of aspirants.

Best regards,
Mehtab

REETU , I THINK IF YOU GO THROUGH MY ENTIRE BLOG AND ESPECIALLY THE COMMENTS PART OF IT IN ALL ARTICLES YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET A FAIR IDEA . AT LAST IT IS ALL ABOUT CONFIDENCE AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF VARIOUS THINGS WHICH WILL GIVE YOU CONFIDENCE…SO READ UP NEWS PAPERS AND AT LEAST 3 MAGAZINES A WEEK Eg..THE WEEK , OUT LOOK , INDIA TODAY–ARE THE BEST…CSR(COMPETITION SUCCESS REVIEW) WOULD BE AN ADDED CONFIDENCE BUILDER.. IF YOU GET ABOUT 10DAYS OF PRACTICE AT AN SSB TRAINING CENTER THEN NOTHING BETTER THAN THAT…BEST OF LUCK

balaji…it is a very wrong attitude which you have got even before joining…. navy is incomplete without ships….if you want to excel in navy, then executive branch will give you the platform to go up in life……the nature of work of a general service that is executive officer is that of running the ship, firing the missiles, firing torpedoes, working on a submarine ,flying an aircraft, being a commando, etc etc….you will be required to work on board ships, but that does not mean sailing for months together like that of the merchant navy….we sail for short durations like 3 days or even 1day; some times long sailings like 10 to 12 days also….but you must understand that we donot sail for very long periods….you will definitely get base postings….. we totally understand the personal life of officers and help them maintain a happy family life…provisions are catered for that….there are options available for logistics and education entries also…you may see the employment news for getting application and prospectus…

SIR,
I have been recommended for SSC GS(x) 2011 COURSE from bhopal. I am B.Sc graduate, my age is 23 yrs.My doubts are
1) can I opt to be a PILOT? or am I eligible to be a submariner or MARCO.
What are my chances for the above things. Its said that SSC officers have less oppurtunities is it true in my case.
2.)After 14 yrs what chances does an SSC GS(x) officer have to become PC officer?
VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT NAVY.RECOMMENDED IN FOURTH ATTEMPT SIR .WAITING FOR YOUR REPLY.DOES BEING A REPITOR IN SSB HAVE ANY EFFECTS IN OPTING FOR ABOVE STREAMS OR PROMOTIONS OR IN GIVING PERMANENT COMMISSION

Dear sir
I got a letter from INS agranani regarding a SSB interview for ssc course.
I would like to know
What will be the pattern of interview?
What are the outcome of this course ?

Reply

Kumar January 14, 2011 at 2:55 pm

there is no course in INSAgrani….Agrani is a naval base in coimbatore and recently naval ssb selections have been started being conducted in ins agrani …what isthe outcome??i didnot understand that part of your question…if you get selected you will go to academy and then become a short service commission officer in the navy

Rahul January 20, 2011 at 3:53 pm

Sir i have certain doubt plz do help me in clearing them
1.) do the SSC logistic personnel have opportunities of going abroad?
2.) how do u rate this service(SSC logistic) at Indian Navy.?

Reply

Kumar January 21, 2011 at 5:20 pm

dear rahul,
in respect to answering your both questions i would like to tell that,
1. go abroad for what??if you are asking for jolly trips then i would say “yes”…not all but atleast half of them will get a chance
2. if you are asking for doing any courses in foreign countries then i must say “no”
3.i would rate this entry 2 out of 5!!!
