SIR,
i HAVE BEEN SELECTED IN SSC GS(X) NAVY . I AM SCHEDULED TO JOIN IN JAN 2011.
PLEASE SOLVE FEW OF MY QUERIES:
1) I HAVE HEARD THAT YOU CAN MARRY TILL YOU COMPLETE THE TRAINING.IS THE TRAINING CONSIDERED THE DURATION OF 2YEARS OR 4 YEARS.
2) I HAVE HEARD THAT YOU DONT GET ACCOMODATION SO EASILY AND BECAUSE OF REGULAR TRAINING PROGRAM THERE IS LOT OF PROBLEM WITH LEAVING WITH YOUR FAMILY. IS IT TRUE THAT WE HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM HOUSE MANY MONTHS IN YEAR NOT ONLY WHILE WE ARE SEA BOARD(SAILING) BUT ALSO FOR REGULAR TRAINING PROGRAM.
3) AT MANY TIMES WE HAVE TO STAY WITHOUT ACCOMODATION ..ARE THERE TOO MANY NON FAMILY POSTINGS
4) WHAT IS THE DURATION OF SEA (SAILING) AT A STRETCH
5) Please do elaborate about the cadres available to short service officers(general service) with the ease/difficulty of getting each
For example: CADRE: Submarine Chance : Difficult etc..
6) CAN YOU PLEASE ELABORATE ON THE WORK PROFILE OF AN ATC OFFICER.DO THEY HAVE TO STAY ON SHIP FOR LOT OF TIME.WHAT IS THERE CAREER PROGRESSION.. I HAVE HEARD THAT THEY BECOME AIR CRASH INVESTIGATOR. HOW GOOD ARE MY CHANCES OF BECOMING ATC OFFICER AFTER SSC GS(X).
Sorry bout asking too much but it will help me alot in deciding ..
I also want to add that I am really interested in navy but the Salary offered and the (confusion about) avenues available after that are the main concerns.Plz if possible do tell the options available outside after each cadre that you will mention above5)
sir Please reply as I have to make my mind..Otherwise i am already pursuing MBA from a respectable college and would get around 10 lakhs pa.. Should I still opt for Navy.. Plz reply as soon as possible to this and the above post..

Thanks a lot

FOR GSES IT IS AROUND 2 YEARS AND TILL THEN YOU CAN NOT MARRY..AND YOU CAN MARRY ONLY IF YOU ARE ABOVE 25 YRS…IF YOU INSIST TO MARRY BEFOR THEN YOU WILL NOT GET ANY BENEFIT

Reply

the qualities to be an officer in the armed forces are the same..the eligibility criteria may vary a bit..but the qualities that are looked for in an officer are the same

Dhruv October 30, 2010 at 5:12 am

sir,as i dont have an defense background so i constantly search the net for relevant topics and many times i have found videos and comments stating “you have to have pilot’s attitude”.Sir, i m talking in that context

Reply

Kumar November 8, 2010 at 3:02 pm

it does not mean that you must be born to a pilot to be a pilot..come on son!!!it means to have a quick thinking and good presence of mind…if you have quicker reactions in life then you may also become a pilot
